What is BIM?

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is not new, it’s been around for at least 30 years. The term relates to an entire process, rather than a product. It is best described as a ‘way of working’ (more…)

Summer parties

Posted on September 11th 2015

Once again we enjoyed glorious weather in both June and September for the two annual summer parties that we hosted on our roof terrace. Both were very well attended and included guests from a broad range of disciplines operating in the prime London property market.

As usual guests were served delicious barbecued kebabs, with all ingredients sourced from Borough Market, and washed down with plenty of Champagne. (more…)

A milestone moment has been reached at one of our new-build projects in St George’s Hill, with the removal of the blockwork supporting structure to the floating helical staircase. Created from solid stone, credit goes to The Stonemasonry Company for making our vision a reality. As you can see, Director Andrew Paulson was keen to be the first to test it:

Lees Associates’ Russian portfolio has recently gained a new addition in the form of an exclusive residential development in St Petersburg. Working in conjunction with interior designers Lambart & Browne, the scheme currently includes the double-height reception space, a public wine bar and smoking room with attached humidor. A structurally impressive double helix staircase is the dominant feature of the reception space, with a full-height bronze sculpted wall beyond.

Lees Associates are lead architects for the extension and complete re-design of this mansion villa located on Phillimore Gardens, north Kensington.

This façade retention project (retaining the existing floor levels) has progressed well since last summer. The complex temporary structures supporting the fragile brick shell are long gone, now replaced by a solid steel structure extending up to the mansard roof. With the recent completion of (more…)

Thirteen of the sixteen regional “Pop-In” centres that Lees Associates have designed for The Royal British Legion are now open, including our local branch at the Legion’s headquarters in Borough High Street.

This is a major new look for the Legion and gives them a new high street presence aimed at an increasingly younger generation of ex-servicemen and their families. The developments, include a publicly accessible advice centre, closely linked to new regional and area offices on the upper floors. Members of the public can also find out about the wide range of services and community activities provided by the Legion.

Our design formula has successfully been applied across a range of sites, from listed buildings and conservation areas to modern shopping precincts. Feedback from the Legion has been very positive and we are proud to have been able to deliver this bold new concept to such an important organisation.

Embracing BIM

Anyone who has ever worked with Lees Associates will know that we are passionate about the CAD software we use. We have used ArchiCAD for over twenty years, recognising it even then as the most advanced, user-friendly CAD package for Architects. Today it remains the market leader, perhaps not in terms of units sold but certainly, in our view, the quality of what it offers. To put it into context, ArchiCAD was a “BIM” product before the term “BIM” even existed. (more…)

Progress update – St George’s Hill

Posted on December 12th 2014

Good progress is being made at our project in St George’s Hill. The structure is complete, the roof is well underway, and M&E first fix has commenced.

The 15,000 sqft prime residential property enjoys one of the premium plots on St George’s Hill, with stunning views over Surrey to the south.

Its substantial basement includes swimming pool, spa pool , sauna, hammam, gym and cinema.

North Wales Almshouses

Lees Associates are currently submitting a planning application for seven new build stone almshouses in the vicinity of a large parish church in a high street location of a seaside town.

Working in conjunction with Luxury Simplified from Charleston USA, we are really proud of this project that will create a collection of beautifully detailed and constructed homes arranged around a communal garden in an urban conservation area.

Progress at Pelham Place

Our refurbishment of this Grade II listed house in South Kensington is well under way on site, with the roof now fully overhauled.

2014 got off to a great start when we were finally granted permission at appeal to carry out a number of works that had initially been rejected by RBKC. These included a couple of successful challenges to RBKC’s notorious Subterranean Development Guide: lowering part of the basement floor under the original house and the rear garden design. We also won permission for a new rear Orangery.
