Planning and listed building consent for substantial refurbishment

Working closely with the City of Westminster’s planning and conservation officers, Lees Associates successfully won planning and listed building consent for the substantial refurbishment of one the last undeveloped single town houses in Eaton Square, which had been split into four apartments and an unconnected mews house. We also secured landlord’s consent from Grosvenor.

  • Client: Private developer

  • GIA: Approx. 22,000 sq.ft.

The rooftop garden has become a focus for the property

Works included rebuilding the mews house with a deeper basement and car lift and connecting it to the main house by raising the garden from the basement level to ground floor and adding a basement swimming pool and gym under. Glazed floors carry light down to the lowest levels and light-tubes wash the walls of the swimming pool with natural light. The rooftop garden connects the guest suite in the mews house with the main house and has become a central focus for the property.

With the benefit of our planning consent the owner sold the property for a substantial profit. The project has since been successfully completed.
