A long-standing partnership

Lees Associates are proud to have been working in the world’s most famous and iconic department store for over 15 years. Spread over 7 floors with 5 acres of floor space, the store has kept our team constantly engaged in assisting Harrods‘ desire to provide the best possible experience for their customers. Whether it is delivering the most desirable eating and drinking destinations (such as the Perrier-Jouët Champagne Terrace), state-of-the-art beauty services (Anastasia’s Beverly Hills Brow Bar), or the finest shopping brands and departments (Rolex, Luxury Jewellery, Women’s and Men’s International Fashion) all in a gloriously relaxing environment (luxury washrooms), we have done it all.

In all of our projects at Harrods a deep understanding of the luxury customer is vital, and Lees Associates’ experience in the prime residential and hospitality sectors is invaluable.

Constructed in around 1905, the listed status of this renowned heritage asset has involved us in many Listed Building Applications. Our technical knowledge and historical awareness have enabled us to sensitively preserve its important early twentieth century features, such as the Art Deco laylight that dominates the Tea Rooms, and to adapt them to satisfy current safety standards, such as our work on the ‘Chocolate Staircase’(!)

Over the years we have built up a tremendous understanding of Harrods, their team and other stakeholders to provide a service that succeeds in delivering a premium and luxurious environment to a demanding timescale whilst complying with the highest environmental and safety standards. As well as delivering the customer-facing facilities, we have also worked behind the scenes with projects that ensure the discreet but efficient functionality and safety of such a busy store. We have overseen the state-of-the-art Security Centre and a major façade refurbishment project.

Working in luxury retail in London is challenging anyway but in a significant listed historic building which operates 24/7 it takes a lot of dedication, skill and organisation.

Over numerous projects with a variety of staff, led by Kathryn Archer, they have supported our team in delivering world class retail interiors within very fast timelines. They are always positive and have a refreshing ‘can-do’ attitude.

As well as working on our own designs we have also partnered with renowned interior designers such as David Collins Studio and Brady Williams, and have also worked alongside various brands’ own designers. The results have always stood up to Harrods’ incredibly high standards and demanding programmes. We have enjoyed the challenges and exceptional results with equal passion, and we look forward to the next 15 years!
