Job Description

Purpose of the role: Providing skilled and managerial support to large project teams and overseeing smaller projects personally
Reporting to: Project Architect and Partners

Overview of the role: typically working as part of a project team under the direction of the Project Architect, assisting the team in the design and production of schemes and taking ownership of various elements. Separately, taking full responsibility for smaller projects, reporting directly to a Partner.

Operational duties and responsibilities (across all RIBA Workstages):

  • Drawing and sketching architectural and interior design solutions by hand

  • Modelling schemes in BIM (ARCHICAD)

  • Producing architectural drawings from the ARCHICAD model

  • Producing schedules from the ARCHICAD model

  • Producing 3D still and video visualisations in ARCHICAD

  • Independently developing 2D technical details

  • Independently researching appropriate products, materials etc

  • Reviewing design information prepared by junior team members, providing feedback and support

  • Producing reports in Word, Pages, Excel, Numbers and InDesign

  • Drafting NBS specifications

  • Participating in, contributing to and occasionally chairing team meetings and design workshops

  • Participating in, and contributing to, internal CPD presentations

  • Operating standard internal project management and administrative systems

  • Providing general assistance in the office

  • Complying with Health & Safety, Employment and Environmental Policies

  • ARB registered Architect, having completed a RIBA-recognised Part 3 course in the last 3 years

  • Committed to a career in architecture, with clear professional goals

  • Enthusiastic, conscientious and committed

  • Strong design awareness

  • Strong awareness of practice administrative procedures and contractual responsibilities

  • Aware of responsibilities under RIBA and ARB Codes of Conduct

Technical

Competent and skilled at using:

  • Mac OS

  • ARCHICAD

  • Adobe InDesign

  • Adobe Photoshop

  • Microsoft Word

  • Microsoft Excel

  • Apple Pages

  • Apple Numbers

  • Microsoft Outlook

  • NBS Building and Chorus

  • Represents the practice professionally and competently and with willing, including at functions and events

  • Communicates excellently with clients and other collaborators, quickly establishing a strong rapport
